Here’s the scoop! I’ve been a Cosmetologist for over 40 years and still love every minute of it. I’m from a small town, Fort Branch, Indiana. My mother and father worked very hard raising a family of 6 children. As a child I struggled immensely in school. I look back now and see those struggles as a level of Autism/Aspergers. My mother always associated my dyslexia as being left handed. The hair styling industry brought me out of my shell and gave me the confidence and creativity to thrive. I was blessed! My first job, I was an assistant to 14 stylists as I built a clientele at Norma’s of Northbrook in Evansville, Indiana. I loved helping everyone and this is where I found my passion for the hairstyling industry. My move to Kennesaw, Georgia brought many more blessings. My Husband, David, 3 children and a hair studio which gives me the freedom to style hair, on my own time, and to create The Association of Stylists and Barbers. (TASB) My many amazing clients gave me the courage and help to turn my dream into a reality.

God strategically placed stylists and barbers all over the world to serve our clients. A close, life long relationship can begin and at times our clients confined in us more than their own family. With this said stylists/barbers have the ability to help those dear to our hearts. What could happen if we ALL came together under one umbrella and Cut for Good. We have the ability to do this! Our clients love us and will do so much for their stylist/barber. When you join us you will see Gods grace over your TASB celebrations. You will become a Super HairO when you not only join TASB but God’s organization.

My favorite Hair-Raising event is our TASB Cut-A-Thon for Autism. Stylists, Doshia Harris and Manasha Calhoun brought this event to our meetup (2011) and our vote to help Autism organizations was unanimous. This annual event is held the weekend before Labor Day for a 6 week period. Dedicated stylists/barbers volunteer their professional time and talent to raise funds for autism-related causes-and in doing so bring awareness to this condition. Each year 50% of the funds will go to honorary clients/families in need, chosen by your team. You create your unique TASB Cut-A-Thon celebration in your community. 50% of the funds will also be distributed to various autism organizations and to keep TASB thriving.

I can’t help but to reflect on all our major milestones since our first TASB Celebration in the Fall of 2008. Recognition with Style, our magazine, has grown with cutting-edge content that covers each year’s accomplishments. With the success of our magazine, I was ready to do more, not only for the charities that are dear to my heart, but also the stylists and barbers in our communities who have helped make my dream a success.
Each year I wonder how many stylists/barbers will come together, how many haircuts will be given, how many “Big Checks” will be distributed. I look forward to seeing how you bring our mission to your community.
